Paula is an attorney in the United States, admitted to practice law in California and Guatemala, her home country. She holds a Masters’s degree in Computer and Communications Law from the Queen Mary University of London and is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) in both the US and EU. With over 10 years of experience, she has worked as an associate at a top 3 Central American Law firm, as an independent consultant, and Assistant Manager at UCLA’s Information Practices Department. She currently works as a Privacy Of Counsel and Advocate for Palacios, Abogados y Consultores – a leading Central American law firm in Guatemala where she heads the Data Privacy and Data Protection practice area.
Paula’s fierce passion for privacy, advocacy, and children’s rights led her to become XRSI’s Child Safety Legal Adviser. She also serves as a Leadership Advisor for the DDX3X Foundation, a Diversity and Inclusion Task Force Advisor for Apraxia Kids, and an independent Special Education Advocate.
